Did you know that you have two minds? You have a conscious mind that is always thinking. It’s the great trickster. It fools you into thinking whatever you need to in order to protect yourself. Your subconscious mind protects our will — what you really want. It is the guardian of our truth and weaves the patterns of who we are.

To conquer your mind, you must conquer your subconscious mind. This is the mind that you have to develop a stronger relationship with. Your identity is that which you create subconsciously. One of the most powerful tools to take control of your subconscious mind is the use of affirmations.

Affirmations are positive statements that describe a desired situation or outcome. Affirmations are spoken repeatedly, several times a day in order to support the subconscious mind into taking positive action toward achieving the desired outcome. In order to ensure the affirmations support your subconscious mind, they have to be repeated with attention, conviction, interest and desire.

There is no right or wrong approach to creating affirmations. Generally, affirmations, fall into several categories:

· Money

· Health

· Relationships

· Happiness

· Contribution

· Personal

An example of my “contribution” affirmation is, “The Preemie Parents Foundation has $5,000 in the bank by March 31, 2012.” This is a non-profit that I started late in 2011 and I’m passionate about supporting.

How Do You Use Affirmations?

Putting affirmations into use in your daily life is relatively easy. You can follow these steps:

1. Repeat affirmations that are not too long so they are easier to remember. Repeat them 5–10 minutes each, several times a day.

2. Be entirely relaxed — physically, mentally and emotionally and mentally. The more you concentrate, the more faith you will have in what you are saying and the stronger and faster will be the results will be.

3. Choose only positive words and emotions to describe what you really want. Use words evoke positive images in the mind.

4. Always affirm in the present tense, not the future tense. Saying, “I will be rich”, means that you intend to be rich one day, in the indefinite future, but not now. It is more effective to say, and also feel, “I am rich now”, and the subconscious mind will work at overtime to make this happen now, in the present.

The power of affirmations can help you to transform your life. By stating what you want to be true in your life, you mentally and emotionally see and feel it as true. Ignore where you are currently. Focus on where you want to be!
